SportsFilter Needs a Password Change Form: Ricardo requested the ability the change your password here. Now that I am cleaning up the code after the upgrade to PHP 7, I thought I would dust off the Locker Room and use it to track progress on new features and bug reports.

Little help? Apologies for the link title.: I got nothing here, but I used to exist on this website. One of my favorite things was the CD swap that we did a few times. It was a blast. Goddam introduced me to the best song ever performed about basketball. There was a guy named owlhouse who send me the - no shit - the best cd ever. It was pretty Australia-specific. I\\\'ve since heard \\\"Love this city\\\" a few times and I always think about how great that cd was. Great song! And that was the shittiest song on that CD. There was a song by the Warumpi band that was so no bullshit and bad ass and I can\\\'t find it anywhere. Owlhouse, if you\\\'re still out there anywhere, please tell the world where to find that Warumpi band song. Sorry for busting in here. I hope everyone is doing well.

Matt Haughey is Stepping Down at MetaFilter: Since so many SportsFilter users came over from MetaFilter, I wanted to share Mathowie's news that he's removing himself from day-to-day operations at the mothership to take a new gig. He announced it today so it's a good time to go there and pay tribute to the Willie Mays of the community weblog.

Suggestions for SportsFilter Links: My new editorial goal is to find one good link a day to post on SportsFilter. I'm trying to avoid going for low-hanging fruit like an athlete getting into off-the-field trouble or a viral video highlight, so I am checking places where more thought-provoking sports journalism is being published. This raises a question: Where is more thought-provoking sports journalism being published?

MetaFilter User Proposes New Site Called 'Sportsfilter': A MetaFilter user fired up about the World Cup has proposed the establishment of a new sister site devoted to sports. "There are quite a few people on mefi who love teh footy, and many more who love the World Cup, and it would give us a place to chat about it and not clutter up the Front Page. ... Sportsfilter is likely to be way way less a contentious place, and much quieter, as sports fans make up a smaller subset of mefites overall," writes Marienbad.

Recent Activity?: On MetaFilter, the Recent Activity page (I've linked to the best one, obvs) is a great way to keep up with threads you are participating in, and I was wondering if there is any interest in creating a similar feature here at SpoFi? Even something as simple as linkifying (highly technical term) the Recent Comments on our profile pages would really help me (and others) participate more here.

I Have Six Chances to Consider as Popesquatter: In the hopes of continuing my reign as popesquatter, I have the following names as dot-com domains: Clement XV, Innocent XIV, John Paul III, Leo XIV, Paul VII and Pius XIII. Don't pray for this to happen, because it could be considered tampering.

Costanza Trophy: Does anyone have a copy of the Costanza trophy graphic floating around? We have a couple of deserving winners in the CFL Pick 'Em, but I haven't seen the trophy anytime recently. It was a magnificent graphic and deserves to be unearthed. I did some searching and digging through the archives, with no luck.

Favorites or Likes for comments?: Hey there old friends. I'm back lurking here. I'm even logged in, so I can see the (# new) thingy after the comments number. I don't have much to contribute, but 5 years of Facebooking have endeared to the simple "Like" action below each comment and I'm instinctly looking to click it when I read a comment that makes me chuckle. MetaFilter has a similar feature with their Favorites. Is this at all a possibility for SpoFi?

Comment-shifting: I appreciate the efforts by mods to make threads out of hot topics in the Huddle. Perhaps they could include notations of such on the story and the affected Huddle, just to allay any confusion? For example, on the Seahawks-Packers story linked above, something like (Editor note: The first 22 comments were relocated from the Monday Huddle.) and (Editor note: 22 comments from this Huddle were relocated here.) in the Huddle itself. (Also, I apologize for the broken link -- the system is putting slashes before my quotes.)

Question About Armstrong Post: After reading the book, no doubt is left in the reviewer's mind as to Armstrong's guilt. If this is a quote from the article, shouldn't it be in quotes? And if it isn't, it's editorializing, and doesn't belong in a fpp.

Olympic protocol: In the past we have strived to not give away event results for at least 24hrs in order to give those who connot see events live to watch replays w/o knowledge of results. As of this time I''m able to watch those events important to me live most of the time. It did come to my realization yesterday as I was watching the US France soccer match I really wanted to say a few things but by biting my stylis I refused. Should this consideration be reiterized by the pantheron or are we finally to the point it's understood.

Did Troy Play Dirty?: As many of you know I am a Steelers fan. But I have always prided myself on being fair. In other words I never automatically absolve players from teams simply because they are my team.

A coworker of mine is a die-hard Patriots fan. This afternoon when I came into work the first words out of his mouth were that he no longer had an respect for Troy Polamalu. Not because of the (debatable) punched fumble... he said that didn't matter ... but because he said Troy kicked at Patriots players after "6 or so" plays were over. He says he saw it himself and that it was all anyone on Boston radio stations were talking about.

I watched every down, and watched NFL TV most of the day on Monday and saw no evidence and heard not a single talking head discussing it.

I assume if it is true he will be fined. But I was wondering if other Patriots fan truly saw evidence of Troy's "dirty play"?

Obviously these accusations are bothering me. But if there is evidence I will be the first to admit I disappointment in Troy.

I know there are a bunch of Patriots fans here. Can you point to specific plays if you agree?

Cricket Question: I try to pride myself on understanding as many games as possible. From the ancient Chinese board game Wei-chi, which we know in the US as Go, to the advanced intricacies of Rugby, Hockey, American Football, and Baseball. I've even fashioned a crude rugby ball out of an old football, and can explain even the most complex Curling situations to my friends and family. Previously, after seeing a sports science where a baseball player took only 5 minutes to solve the puzzle of cricket batting, I was very negatively disposed to the game, thinking "if a baseball player can be hitting long bombs after a few minutes, then its obviously not that interesting to watch". But my curiosity got the best of me, and I found that cricket was considered a "Batter's game" rather than baseball's pitcher-centric style, and it made more sense to me. Although I don't see myself following Cricket as religiously as I picked up Rugby, I'd like to know a few more things about it; more specifically... 1) If a game has a limited number of overs, as many do today, and overs are based on pitches, as opposed to outs, then it seems possible that a game could have 40 overs without having an out. If this is true, why don't bowlers just bowl avoiding both the wickets and the batter, like a "pitch-out" in baseball? Is there some kind of rule as to what really constitutes a legal throw from the pitcher? 2) I've been led to believe that there are incredibly many ways to get a player out, but when I read into the sport, it seemed like it was very simple, either the bowler hits the wickets, you hit a pop-fly (i know thats not the term they use, s'all good), or they get to the base you're headed to before you. Is it really that simple? people made it sound so intimidatingly complicated. 3) Besides there being 20 overs in a Twenty20 game, are there any more significant differences. I heard a variation on this idea suggested for rugby, and thought it might have been the worst idea I've ever heard, which, knowing my friends, is surprising.
